Pyxd debuts AI-based draping tech for custom upholstery

LAS VEGAS — Furniture visualization solutions provider Pyxd has announced the launch of , a new visual merchandising technology designed to help retailers and manufacturers present custom upholstery options online more quickly and accurately.

The technology is debuting at , with an initial focus on custom upholstery programs. PyxMagic Draping allows users to digitally apply real fabrics, leathers and finishes to existing product photography, producing photo-real images without the need for additional photoshoots or complex 3D rendering workflows.

will demonstrate PyxMagic Draping at the Furniture Technology Source in Building B, space B1400, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 25–27.

According to the company, Draping enables teams to generate multiple material variations from a single photograph, reducing the time and cost traditionally associated with merchandising custom furniture. The approach is intended to help retailers expand online assortments and bring new or customized products to market without increasing production resources at the same pace.See also:

While the initial rollout centers on custom upholstery, Pyxd said the underlying technology is designed to extend to case goods and other furniture categories after launch. The company said this would allow similar gains in speed and scalability across a broader range of custom furniture offerings.

Pyxd said PyxMagic Draping differs from legacy visualization tools by relying on its proprietary pipeline rather than manual rendering or synthetic assets. The company described the process as an objective method for maintaining material fidelity, color accuracy and product-specific construction details across all variations.

“Retailers are under increasing pressure to show more options online, but the industry’s tools haven’t kept up,” said Gaurav Sethi, co-founder of Pyxd. “Draping represents a fundamentally new way to approach custom furniture merchandising. We’re starting with custom upholstery because it’s one of the most complex challenges, and the impact there is immediate.”

Among the early retail partners working with Pyxd is Walker’s Furniture & Mattress, which is evaluating how the technology could support both online merchandising and the in-store sales process.

Pyxd said Draping also includes a fully hosted interactive player that integrates directly into e-commerce sites and other digital channels. The player supports features such as high-resolution full-screen viewing, zoom functionality and dimension overlays, with additional capabilities planned for future releases. The company said retailers and manufacturers do not need to manage their own infrastructure to use the tool.

PyxMagic Draping is launching as a commercially available, fully tested beta and will be offered to select retailers and manufacturers beginning at Las Vegas Market. Live demonstrations are scheduled throughout the event.

“This launch establishes a new foundation for how custom furniture can be merchandised online,” said Clarence Chui, co-founder and CEO of Pyxd. “Draping unlocks greater choice and realism without the traditional tradeoffs.”
